INMATE MAIL POLICIES

Beginning October 25, 2023, the Franklin County Security Center will be following newly adopted rules concerning incoming mail for inmates.

Incoming mail:

The following mailed items will not be accepted by the Security Center:

• Greeting Cards
• Colored Paper
• Colored Envelopes
• Copy Paper
• Newspaper Clippings Envelopes with Return Labels    
• Mail that contains any type of fragrance or other foreign substance sprayed or otherwise applied to it or the envelope
• Photocopies and/or any item on copy paper not allowed
• No packages or mail orders allowed
• No puzzle books allowed.
• Any photographs.

Incoming mail must be in a plain white envelope and the letter/drawings etc., must be written/printed in black or blue ball point pen and/or pencil, on originally purchased, plain white, lined paper (no copy paper or photocopies). All paper must contain lines, no plain paper or copy paper is allowed. No photographs will be permitted to be mailed or accepted to Franklin County Inmates. Also, photocopies of photos are not allowed.

Incoming correspondence must include a full return address, including the name of the person sending it to the jail (NO RETURN LABELS).

Any incoming mail, found to violate any of the above requirements will be returned to the sender if known or placed in the inmates property bin.
